Woodford County Advances In Boy’s Sweet 16

The opening game of the UK Healthcare Sweet 16 quarterfinals saw the Woodford County Yellow Jackets get off to a quick start as they downed the Elizabethtown Panthers 59-48. The Yellow Jackets outscored Elizabethtown 8-0 to begin the game and never looked back as they led from start to finish.

Woodford County would use their defense to get easy buckets and keep Elizabethtown on their heals. The Panthers would turn it over 20 times and Woodford would score 19 points as a result of the miscues.

E-Town would make a second half run as they were able to cut a one time Woodford County 11 point advantage down to 2 with 3:53 left to play in the third quarter. Woodford County would take advantage of their trips to the charity stripe throughout the day. The Yellow Jackets hit 25 of 29 attempts for the game and 21 of 25 in the second half.

Woodford County’s Jasper Johnson and Aden Nelson each had 16 points. Santonio Waide added 12. The Yellow Jackets improve to 22-12 and will advance to Saturday’s semifinals.

Elizabethtown was paced by Ayden Evans with 12. JuJuan Williams added 11. The Panthers end their season at 24-10.
