The Cats played well in the first half. The 3 point shooting was much improved over previous games to 7 of 16 for 44% in the first half and a game total of 10-22 for 45.5%. The total of 22 three pointers is in the range Coach Cal said the team should be shooting in the games.

Nick Richards had his third double-double of the season with 10 points, 13 rebounds, and he also added in 7 blocks in 35 minutes of playing time.

Tyrese Maxey hit 4-6 tres for game total of 21 points to lead all scorers. The Wildcats went to the locker room at half with a comfortable 20 point lead of 41-21 after Kentucky went on a 22-2 run at the end of the first half.

In the second half for the first 10 or so minutes the Cats didn’t bring the same intensity as in the first half.  The team in the later part of the second did pick up their play and  cruised to a 81-56 win. Again the free throw shooting was  good hitting 13-19 for 68% for the game.

In the post game press conference Coach Cal was positive about the team. He felt Maxey, Brooks, and Whitney were better but needed practice to improve. He stated that “camp cal” would begin earlier this year due to the fact that going forward after today that the team has only on game per week until mid December. He feels that with scrimmaging the team could get rotations and mental toughness would improve. The Cats next game is Friday November 29th at 7:00pm in Rupp Arena going against University of Alabama at Birmingham.
