MOREHEAD, Ky
. – The Morehead State Women’s Basketball team will play its first official home game of the 2019-20 season when it hosts Stetson at Johnson Arena on Friday at 6:00 p.m. ET in the opening matchup of the Eagle Invitational presented by Downtown BP of Morehead.

Morehead State enters the invitational with a 0-1 record after suffering a 79-65 setback at Bowling Green on Nov. 9. Sophomore Ellie Jo Johnson paced MSU in the loss with a career-best 11 points while freshman Tomiyah Alford turned in a solid outing of 10 points in her first-career game. On the glass, the Eagles out-rebounded the Falcons behind an 11-board performance from six-foot freshman guard Ariel Kirkwood.

Stetson enters the game with a 1-1 record and was most recently defeated 67-48 at No.13 Kentucky on Thursday evening. The Hatters opened their season with a win came at home on Nov.5 against Palm Beach Atlantic, 77-46.

In its loss to the Wildcats, Stetson was led offensively by Kennedi Colclough and Kimia Carter who both scored 10 points off the bench.

“I thought Stetson played a solid game against Kentucky,” said MSU head coach Greg Todd. “They have a mix of returning players and will be a tough matchup. They play multiple defenses and use different press looks so they’re a difficult team to prepare for but we’re excited to be on our home floor for it.”

Friday’s game will be the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
