Augusta Too Much In Win Over St. Patrick

The Augusta Panther outscored St. Patrick 19 to 8 in the first quarter and never looked back as they cruised to 63 to 39 victorylast night at the Shamrock. The game was the second feature in the Hoops for a Cure matchup between both schools.

Augusta took advantage of Saint’s depleted roster and held them to a season low 39 points in front of a standing room only crowd. 

The Panthers were lead in scoring by sophomore standout KasonHinson who poured in 17 points followed by senior Cameron White’s 16 and Presto Philpot’s 10. 

The Saints rallied the fourth as they started the quarter with a 9-0 run to get within 11 at 50-39 with 6:07 to play. Augusta Coach Jason Hinson called a time out and put his starting five back in the game to where they put the game out of reach for good winning by 24 points.

Augusta returns to action Tuesday night as they host Fayetteville-Perry out of Fayetteville, Ohio. The Saints will have a few days to regroup before traveling to Mt. Olivet Friday in a game with Robertson County.

St. Patrick Lady Saints Roll In Second Half, Down Augusta InHoops For A Cure

The St. Patrick Lady Saints captured their second win of the season in downing the August Lady Panthers 50-26 Monday night at The Shamrock. The game was part of their annual Hoops For A Cure boy-girl double header.

Augusta jumped out to an early lead with a couple of 3’s by Augusta’s Alexis Shields. The Lady Panthers led at the end of the first quarter 13-10. St. Patrick tallied 11 points in the second quarter and the game was all tied up at the half.

The second half saw a much stronger St. Patrick team as they outscored Augusta 29 to 15 as the Saint’s Libby Gallenstein and Justina Klee packed a one-two punch in closing out the contest. Both seniors scored 14 points each while teammate Caroline McKay pitched in nine points in the effort.

Augusta was led by senior Panther Alexis Shields with 10 followed by Madison Kelch’s nine. 

The Lady Saints lace them up again Wednesday night when they host Dayton followed by a district matchup with Bracken County in Brooksville on Friday night.
