MOREHEAD, Ky
. – The Morehead State Women’s Basketball team will open its December schedule with a road test against Dayton on Thursday morning at 11:00 a.m. ET inside UD Arena.

The Eagles, who are now 3-4 overall after an impressive 73-62 victory over defending Big South champions Radford at home on Saturday, will look to claim their first road victory of the 2019 season.

“It’s been a great few days of preparation coming off a quality win,” said MSU head coach Greg Todd. “We’ve had energetic practices and we know Dayton is very solid team that has played some great competition this season.”

The Flyers play host during their annual “School Day” event which has welcomed an average of 8,909 spectators over the past two seasons. Dayton is currently 4-5 overall this season with three of its five losses coming against top-25 competition.

“They’re going to have a tough crowd but they also have a talented team between the lines,” said Todd. “They have good size and shooting ability and will force us to guard the three. We’re going to have to try and play at our pace and control the tempo if we want to get the win on the road.”

Statistically for the season, Morehead State is led in scoring by senior Breuna Jackson and freshman Ariel Kirkwoodwith 10.1 points per game. Kirkwood also paces the Eagles in rebounding with 9.1 boards per game and assists with two dimes per game. The freshman’s 9.1 boards per contest currently rank second.

The Flyers scoring efforts are led by Erin Whalen with 13.4 points per game. Whalen, who has come off the bench in all but one game this season, also paces her squad in three-point shooting with a 19-of-53 (.358) clip.
