SEC Win Challenge for the 2020 Women’s Basketball Season Helps Raise Funds to Fight Alzheimer’s disease

Knoxville, Tenn., Jan. 2, 2020 – Officials of the Pat Summitt Foundation expressed their appreciation today to University of Kentucky Women’s Basketball Associate Head Coach and former Lady Vol Kyra Elzy and her husband Dexter Lander for their continued sponsorship of the SEC Win Challenge that raises funds to support the Foundation’s work.

Elzy is encouraging fans of all SEC women’s basketball teams to join this initiative by making their own personal pledges for their respective team’s SEC regular season wins.

“The SEC Win Challenge has made a huge impact on the work of the Pat Summitt Foundation. Kyra and Dexter are champions in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease as are all the fans who participate each year,” said Sunny Biden, Director of Public Relations for the Pat Summitt Foundation.

The Foundation’s website offers a donation page for the Challenge at www.patsummitt.org/challenge, which makes it easy for fans to join the effort by selecting their SEC team or other (non-SEC) team and making a per game pledge or a one-time donation.

Coach Elzy will promote the information and results on Twitter @CoachLZ, on facebook.com/kyraelzy, and The Pat Summitt Foundation will promote it on its platforms as well. The total amount raised over the last seven seasons has topped $130,000 in support of the Foundation’s fight against Alzheimer’s disease.

“Dexter and I are passionate about our fight against Alzheimer’s and beyond grateful to honor Coach Summitt with the SEC Win Challenge. She has impacted, influenced, and inspired me and so many others. The SEC Win Challenge gets us one step closer to finding a cure. “TOGETHER WE WILL WIN,” said Coach Kyra Elzy.
