Brooksville, KY – The St. Patrick Lady Saints are returning to the 39th district finals for the second consecutive year as they took down district rival Augusta Lady Panthers 55-34 Monday night at the Igloo.

The two teams split their regular season games, so it was anticipated to be another battle between the two schools. What happened was a 24-7 second quarter finish by St. Patrick and the Lady Saints to a 37-18 lead into the locker room.

Both squads played head-to-head in the second half, but Augusta couldn’t overcome the second period as St. Patrick held on to advance to Thursday night championship game where they will face the Mason County or Bracken County winner.

Libby Gallenstein and Allison Hughes led the Lady Saints in scoring with 17 points each. Freshman Izzy Riggs came off the bench after Senior Justina Klee got into early foul trouble and was forced to watch most of the game from the sidelines. Augusta was led in scoring by Alexis Shields who scored 16 points in her final appearance as a Lady Panther.

The Lady Saints will take on the winner of Mason-Bracken contest on Thursday night at Bracken County High School. Tip off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
