All the work seems to be paying off as the Wildcats held off Auburn in Rupp Arena today 82-80. Isaiah Jackson and Brandon Boston Jr. both had big games for Kentucky scoring eighteen and seventeen respectively. The team had a fourteen point lead with 10:36 left in the second half and Auburn was able to tie the game at 77 with 46 seconds left, but Kentucky was able to stay tough and win the game.

Isaiah Jackson has his first double-double as a Wildcat scoring eighteen points and grabbing eleven rebounds. Keion Brooks also had twelve points, five rebounds, and 4 assists to help the team.

Overall the team shot 43 percent from the field and were 11 of 24 from the three point line for 46%. The other improving stats for the Cats were 15 assists, 10 blocks, and 8 steals.

Coach Calipari noted after the game that the players were finally playing as a team for each other and the strides they have been making over the last 3 weeks are resulting in good play.

The team was also able to keep Auburn’s point guard Sharife Cooper off the free throw line and limiting his scoring to 14 points well below his season average of 20 points per game.

Hopefully this win will give the Cats confidence going into the next game against Vanderbilt on Wednesday in Nashville.
