ATHLETICS MOURNS THE PASSING OF OVC CHAMPION MEN’S BASKETBALL ALUM EDDIE CHILDRESS

MOREHEAD, Ky. — Eddie Childress, a member of Morehead State men’s basketball’s Ohio Valley Conference champion squads in 1982-83 and 1983-84, has passed away. Childress was 60 years old.

Services for Childress will be held at the Union Missionary Baptist Church in Muncie, Ind., at Noon ET on March 13.

A native of Muncie, Childress attended Muncie South High School before enrolling at Morehead State in 1979-80. 

Childress went on to be a member of the 1,000-point club, scoring 1,165 points in his four seasons. He took an injury redshirt season in 1981-82.  He burst onto the college scene in 1979-80 by averaging 11.7 points and 4.8 rebounds for head coach Wayne Martin.

Childress played in 113 career games, which ranks among the highest in program history.
