Schedule Update

·   The matchups for the final weekend of league play were announced on Feb. 25. Six games will be played on Saturday, March 6, and one on Sunday, March 7. See below for a full listing of games.

Conference Notes

·   SEC Player of the Week – Florida guard Tre Mann, a 6-foot-5, 190-pound sophomore from Gainesville, Fla., averaged 20.0 points, 10.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.5 steals in wins at Auburn and at Kentucky. Mann recorded his first career double-double with a 19-point, 13-rebound outing at Auburn. He scored 11 of the Gators final 20 points to close out the win at Kentucky and dropped in 14 of his 21 in the second half. Mann became the only Gator dating back to 1970 to lead the team outright in points and rebounds in back-to-back wins with both games on the road.

·   SEC Freshman of the Week – Arkansas guard Moses Moody, a 6-foot-6, 205-pound freshman from Little Rock, Ark., averaged 21.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists in wins against No. 6 Alabama and LSU. Moody set career highs in assists in both games (4 vs. UA and then 5 vs. LS). He was 16-of-19 at the line in leading Arkansas with 24 points against Alabama. Moody had 18 points, eight rebounds and five assists against LSU.

·   Five SEC teams rank in the Top 40 of the NCAA’s March 1 NET rankings. That is the third-most in the nation.

·   Five teams are receiving mention in the March 1 Associated Press Top 25 highlighted by Alabama (8th) and Arkansas (12th) Florida, Tennessee and Missouri are  receiving votes.

·   Five teams rank among the Top 25 defensive teams in the nation according to KenPom.com. Alabama ranks No. 3 in Adjusted Defense while Tennessee is 6th, Arkansas 13th, Mississippi State 24th and Kentucky 25th.

·   Alabama clinched its eighth SEC regular season championship and the No. 1 seed in the SECTournament. It is the Crimson Tide’s first SEC title since 2002.

·   The SEC won the eighth annual SEC/Big 12 Challenge by winning five of the nine games on January 30. The SEC has a 25-24 lead in the event over the last five years.

·   Kentucky’s Davion Mintz and Olivier Sarr & Tennessee’s John Fulkerson and Yves Pons have been named candidates for the Senior CLASS Award.

·   Georgia’s Sahvir Wheeler recorded the first triple-double in the school’s 116-season history with 14 points, 11 rebounds and 13 assists against LSU on Feb. 23.

·   Tennessee was the favorite to win the 2021 SEC championship in a preseason poll of media from around the league and nation. Kentucky was picked to finish second and is followed by LSU, Florida and Alabama. Florida’s Keyontae Johnson was selected by the media as the preseason player of the year.

·   Five former SEC played have been named 2021 NBA All-Stars. Washington’s Bradley Beal (UF) was named a starter while the Los Angeles Lakers’ Anthony Davis (UK), New York’s Julius Randle (UK) and Philadelphia’s Ben Simmons (LS) were named reserves. Phoenix’s Devin Booker was added to the roster by Adam Silver.

·   Seventy-seven players from SEC schools were on 2020-21 NBA Opening Day rosters. All 14 SEC schools were represented and at least one SEC player is on 28 of 30 NBA rosters.

·   For the second year in a row, 12 SEC players were picked in the 2020 NBA Draft, including six who were chosen in the first round.

·   Georgia’s Anthony Edwards became the fifth SEC player to be picked first overall in the NBA Draft in the last 11 years.
