MOREHEAD, Ky. — With a kick return that helped spark a fourth quarter rally for Morehead State Football Saturday, senior slot receiver/return specialist Ian Holder has been tabbed the Pioneer League Special Teams Player of the Week.

Holder put up a PFL season-best 144 kickoff return yards. His 66-yard return late in the fourth quarter set up the Morehead State offense at the Stetson 15-yard line and the ensuing drive resulted in a touchdown to narrow the deficit to 35-30. Four of his five returns went for 20-plus yards and the Eagles’ average starting position was its 41-yard line after his returns, and MSU scored two touchdowns on the ensuing drives.

Holder upped his career kickoff return yardage to 1,057 with his effort versus Stetson. He also has 278 career punt return yards. He needs just 85 receiving yards to reach 1,000 for his career.

Holder and the Eagles finish the 2021 season Saturday at Valparaiso at 2 p.m. ET.
