MOREHEAD, Ky.–  Morehead State head men’s basketball coach Preston Spradlin has announced that Ky Klingsick has been promoted to Assistant Coach/Director of Operations, while Ben Sisson has joined the staff as Manager of Player Development.

“Ky is going into his third season with our staff, where he has carved out an extremely valuable role for himself,” said Spradlin.  “Ky is a relentless worker who does so many things behind the scenes to make sure that our program operates at a championship level. He is a rising star in this profession and works tirelessly to make our jobs easier and enhance the experience of our student-athletes.”

Klingsick finished his second year at MSU as the manager of operations in 2022-23, handling a majority of the behind-the-scenes activities, including travel.

He was instrumental in helping the program win the 2022-23 OVC regular-season title, the program’s first since 1983-84. The Eagles also appeared in the NIT for the first time in program history, winning a first-round game at ACC power and No. 1 seed Clemson. Mark Freeman earned OVC Player of the Year and Alex Gross was the Defensive Player of the Year.

In 2021-22, he helped the Eagles to their second straight 23-win season and a place in the OVC Tournament championship game.

Before his time with the blue and gold, Klingsick served as an assistant at Alabama-Huntsville during the 2020-21 season. Despite a shortened campaign, he helped the Chargers to a 15-4 record.

Klingsick was also a basketball manager at his alma mater, Oklahoma State, for four years.

Sisson joins Spradlin’s leadership troop after a successful four-year student-athlete career at Kentucky Wesleyan.

“We are excited to add Ben to our staff. He brings in a terrific work ethic and knowledge of the game that he gained throughout an impressive career at Kentucky Wesleyan,” said Spradlin. “Ben has a great presence with our players and does a great job of staying organized to maximize his time with us to develop his coaching resume.”

A native of Fort Thomas, Ky., and a product of Highlands High School, Sisson was named to the All-Great Midwest Athletic Conference team in 2022-23. The Panthers’ 2022-23 team captain was also a three-time Academic All-GMAC honoree and twice earned the Doug Kingsley “Heart of the Team” Award.

He scored more than 700 career points and corralled more than 400 rebounds. Sisson also compiled 80 career blocked shots and shot 62 percent for his four-year career in Owensboro.

At Highlands, Sisson was awarded the 2019 Region 9 Player of the Year accolade.

He earned his bachelor’s degree in history from KWC this August.
