SEC Basketball Players of the Week (12/18/23)

SEC Player of the Week – Texas A&M guard Wade Taylor IV, a 6-foot, 175-pound junior from Dallas, Texas, had 34 points, four assists, three rebounds, and three steals against No. 4 Houston. Taylor single-handedly out-scored the Cougars 17-6 over a six-minute span to knot the score at 63-63 with 1:30 remaining. He finished the game just shy of his career high with 34 points, including a career-best six 3-pointers. Twenty-six of his points came in the second half.

SEC Freshman of the Week – Kentucky guard D.J. Wagner, a 6-foot-4, 192-pound freshman from Camden, N.J., played a game-high 35 minutes and generated 14 points, a season-high six rebounds, a game-high five assists and had a steal in UK’s upset of No. 9 North Carolina. Wagner led the way for the Cats who earned their second win of a top-10 Associated Press ranked team this season. He was the steady floor general and lead on-ball defender, while contributing on the boards. Wagner was steady from the floor, hitting clutch shots and making 50 percent of his 3-pointers.
