UK rolls past Missouri 29-7 at Kroger Field in Lexington

Back in the Win Column for the Wildcats

After a slow start to the game, Kentucky was able to get the ball rolling in the 2nd quarter. Missouri had a chance to score first on their second drive but missed a 45-yard field goal and that would be the closest they would get to scoring for the rest of the half. Kentucky’s defense was able to hold Missouri to only 98 total yard in the half, 50 of those yards came on 19 carries on the ground. The defense was also able to sack the quarterback 4 times and force 2 fumbles and were able to recover one of those fumbles late in the 2nd quarter that lead to another score by Lynn Bowden. Having Lynn Bowden in as quarterback has been the difference-maker in the ball game for the Kentucky Wildcats so far. He looks more comfortable in the pocket and looks more comfortable throwing the ball as well. Bowden led the offense to a total of 213 total yards in the 1st half. Bowden also had help from his running backs both Rose and Smoke on two big touchdowns in the half. Kentucky had the longest streak of making the most consecutive PATs at 129 in a row coming into this game but that streak would end when Ruffolo would miss the first 2 PAT attempts in the game. Chance Poore would come in to replace him nailing a 43-yard field goal as well as an extra point late in the 2nd quarter.

Missouri came out to play at the start of the 3rd quarter scoring on a 74-yard screen pass but that would be the only thing they would put on the scoreboard in the quarter. Missouri was able to move the ball a lot better in the third then they did in the first half but the rain started to come down harder and started to play more of a factor on the passing game of Missouri. Kentucky did not score in the third quarter but Max Duffy kicked a 70-yard punt which is a new record for him. Kentucky started the 4th quarter with a 33yd run touchdown by Bowden to stretch the lead to 29 to 7. Lynn Bowden finished the game with over 200 yards on the ground with 2 touchdowns. Kentucky would end up winning the game defeating Missouri 29 to 7.
