St. Patrick Lady Saints Come Up Short in Holiday Tournament

Ironton, OH – The Saint Patrick Lady Saints traveled to Ironton, Ohio Thursday to take on Belpre High in the opening round of the St. Joseph’s Holiday Tournament. Once again, St. Patrick was at height disadvantage as the Lady Eagles jumped out to 17 to 6 first quarter lead and never looked back.

The Lady Saints outscored Belpre 15-14 in the second quarter and went to the locker room at the half only down ten, 31-21. Belpre opened the second half with two easy buckets underneath by Lady Eagles standout Kyna Waderker, and outscored St. Patrick’s 17-5 in the third period of play.

St. Patrick outscored Belpre 16-12 in the fourth quarter but couldn’t overcome a sluggish third quarter and the Lady Saints suffered their fourth loss of the season to match their four wins.

Freshman Caroline McKay led the Lady Saints in scoring with 12 points, followed by Libby Gallenstein’a nine and Allison Hughe’s eight-point effort. St. Patrick returns to Ironton for a 10 a.m. game with the winner of St. Joseph and Rose Hill Christian who played the second game of night.
