SEC Basketball Players of the Week (12/20/21)


SEC Player of the Week – Kentucky guard Sahvir Wheeler, a 5-foot-9, 180-pound junior from Houston, Texas, totaled a season-high and game-high 26 points, just one off of his career high, to lead the Wildcats to a win over North Carolina. He connected on 12 of 15 from the field for an 80 percent rate. He also dished out eight assists, marking his fifth game with at least eight assists this season. Wheeler impacted the game on both ends of the floor with a season-high four steals to help Kentucky to 14 fast-break points in the game. His 12 made field goals is a career high, bettering his previous best of nine.

SEC Freshman of the Week – Texas A&M guard Wade Taylor IV, a 6-foot, 186-pound freshman from Lancaster, Texas, led the Aggies in scoring with a season-high 19 points in a road game at Oregon State. His five made 3-pointers were also a season high. Taylor was an efficient 7-of-9 (.778) from the floor, his highest field goal percentage this season. He also dished out a team-high four assists.
