MOREHEAD, Ky. —  Looking to continue success on FamilyLeisure.com Court in Johnson Arena, Morehead State Men’s Basketball hosts St. Mary-Of-The-Woods (Ind.) Thursday evening at 7 p.m. ET. MSU will look for its 11th consecutive home win.

The Pomeroys are an NAIA school located in St. Mary-Of-The-Woods, Ind. – just northwest of Terre Haute. They are members of the River States Conference, along with former opponent Shawnee State (Ohio) and future 2023-24 foe Alice Lloyd (Ky.).

2023-24 RECORDS
MSU: 7-3 | SMOTW: 6-3

NOTABLE

• Morehead State enters the game on a five-game winning streak. This marks the fourth consecutive season under head coach Preston Spradlin to be on at least one five-game success streak and the sixth overall win streak of five-plus games since Spradlin took over in 2016-17.

• In the past four games, MSU has shot 50 percent or better in all four. This marks the first time since Feb. 4-13 in 2010 the program has managed to hit 50 percent or better in four straight. Morehead State has not shot 50 percent plus in five straight games since AT LEAST before the calendar turned to the Y2K (*available game-by-game records go back to 2000-01).

• Morehead State’s 7-3 start in the first 10 games is the best record after 10 contests since also being 7-3 in the 2013-14 season. It’s the third best 10-game start overall, with nine seasons at 8-2 (but not since 1968-69). The best 10-game start in program history was 9-1 in 1936-37 (finished 14-3).

• One common theme during Morehead State’s five-game winning streak is that the Eagles’ leading scorer in each of those games resulted in a 20+ point effort.

• Drew Thelwell could become the winningest individual player in program history this season. If the Eagles win 13 more games, that will give the four-year Eagle 88 wins when he was on the team. That would surpass Terrence Hill, who was a part of 87 wins from 2008-09 through 2011-12.

• Jordan Lathon has been on a tear lately, averaging 21 points per game in the last four outings. In that span, he has also hit an incredible 68 percent (13-of-19) from three-point range.

• Both Drew Thelwell and Riley Minix scored 25 points in the win over Chattanooga Dec. 3. According to records, its the first time in more than 25 seasons with two players recording 25+ points in the same game.

• MSU managed to nail 46 percent (21-of-46) from outside the three-point arc in the past two ball games.

• Riley Minix, a graduate transfer from Southeastern (Fla.), has now scored 2,215 career collegiate points and collected 1,130 rebounds in four-plus college seasons.

• Drew Thewell leads the Ohio Valley Conference in assist/turnover ratio at 1.91.

• Kalil Thomas has scored 75 of his 107 points this season from three-point range. That’s 70 percent of his scoring output. In his career (including three seasons at UMass-Lowell), he’s scored 881 points, with 549 coming from three-point range.

• Freshman Eddie Ricks III is the Eagles’ leading shot blocker. With his 6-foot-7 length, Ricks has blocked 13 attempts, or 1.3 per game.
