Kentucky Drops Tough One To Tennessee

Keion Brooks had a signature game against Tennessee scoring 23 points, grabbing 11 rebounds, one assist, and one steal in the loss to the Volunteers. Devin Askew and Olivier Sarr also played well both scoring fourteen points.

The team played well for thirty minutes keeping Tennessee’s John Fulkerson and Santiago Vescovi in check. Normally two of Tennessee’s leading scorers the two together had only three total points due to early foul trouble.

Kentucky at one point in the second half held a ten point lead. Things took a bad turn with about ten minutes left in the game. The Cats, who accumulated only two turnovers in the first half, started to get careless with bad passes along with increased pressure from Tennessee causing eleven second half turnovers.

In the end the Wildcats lost to Tennessee 82-71 resulting in a 5-12 record. Calipari in his post game notes stated he is not giving up on this team and hopefully Big Blue Nation won’t either.

The next game for Kentucky is Tuesday February 9th at Rupp Arena against the Arkansas Razorbacks.
